In the City of New Orleans: Where Is Dawn Now?
August has been quiet for me so far. But profound and transformative. Plans were once again changed with an unexpected journey to New Orleans. What's new, 2020??? đÂ
Is it the same with you? Are you finding things keep changing and you do, too? Wondering what's going on? Before I get on to the Big Easy and my free-spirited adventures there, I wanted to let you know this...

On the Way: Images from Everyday Moments of Grace in NOLA
Here are some of my reflections on the way, this time from the city of New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz and a place that sings it own song with gusto and unmistakable grace notes. NOLA (New Orleans, La. or Louisiana) is a one-of-a-kind Heart of America experience.

Though unexpected and I can't say I've done too much in terms of all the usual things one might do in New Orleans, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here. I'm finding a reconnection to my soul's story and all things that matter most right now.
My cat friend is happy I could hang with her here, and the slowdown has been good. I'm lucky to be able to travel and explore my world. Seeing and experiencing new places and really feeling into the soul of place has worked for me through dogsitting and housesitting for 5 years now.
Sunset and a Golden Glow in the City of New Orleans
The photo below was taken from looking across the Mississippi River from Algiers Point toward the French Quarter at sunset. It captures the soul of place and the spirit of New Orleans as I am experiencing it right now.Â
Golden moments like this one make everything feel alright.
Hello, New Orleans: Big, Easy, Beautiful Reflection of Our World
On evening walks here, I find so many gifts in the ordinary moments. This blue globe topped with the fleur-d-lis makes my heart smile every day. I know you're supposed to say "N'awlins" but this connects me to France and how I love to call it New OrlĂŠans in honor of Joan of Arc.
Why I do not know. Just feels right to me, so I go with it.Â
This brief moment spoke to me of purity and protection, even and perhaps particularly in times when things are fuzzy and uncertain and our direction unclear. We are held in an infinite sphere of grace, ever expanding to meet us in our time of need. I've added a few New Orleans photos, including the one above, to the Soul of Place collection.
