In the land of enchantment she met echoes of her enchanted life that was and is and shall be set free again. From the shadows they spoke: the smiling Buddha, the native women on their way to collect well water, the brash young stallion and those of the bird tribe.
Each brought a message of strength and resilience. Within her she felt a swoosh of energy and a peace that all would be well and all manner of things would be well. The cedar shook with delight that day in the desert when her thirsty spirit was quenched by the voices of the ancients singing to her there.
This acrylic painting by Dawn Richerson was painted after a visit to Echo Amphitheater in Abiquiú, New Mexico, not far from Ghost Ranch and the land that inspired Georgia O'Keeffe. It is from the Heart of America and the Soul of Place collections of oil and acrylic paintings.
