WATCHERS OF THE HOLY ISLE
Skellig Michael Painting • County Kerry, Ireland Painting
Long had they watched over the holy isle and the seas beyond, awaiting the arrival of the three who came by sea. On the day they traversed the open seas, there came a storm.
The three fought against the wild, unruly waves but it was Michael who rowed the boat ashore that day. Later, tracing the contour of the guardian of this sacred land, they would build the stone pathway that led into the heart of the rock they would name for the giant angel who had provided safe passage.
What is your essential story of life?
What is alive in you?
"Watchers of the Holy Isle" is an original Soul of Place painting from the County Kerry and Soul of Ireland collections by Virginia artist Dawn Richerson, who found joy and wonder in the heart of the Emerald Isle where she lived for three years. In Ireland, I was met with mystery and miracle. The soul of Ireland spoke to my soul, and I was forever changed.
I'll meet you on the way!
