Inspired by the legendary events at Glenade Lake in Ireland, this painting brings together ancient legend and my connection to the formation rising from the mountains above, which I call "Mother on the Mountain."
Here, she comes as if from another world, bearing witness to the gruesome scene. The monster, called the Dobhar-chu by the Irish, seems to have become one with the bloated, floating body of its victim.
On a nearby shore, her bereft husband looks upon the gruesome scene as the wild Irish skies open to the reign of stormy spirits.
This is the memory alive in me.
