THE DELUGE
Queen of the raging river, she stood in the waters of the deep wood, neither lost nor afraid. From the shore she heard them singing to her and from behind she felt the presence of the ancestors. The deluge threatened to consume her—its terror and its beauty overcoming her all at once with a wordless rush of wonder. She would heed the call to life and allow for the work of restoration and, soon, summer's radiant realization of the dreams she held in trust.
