She rushed in to stem the rising tide, the tsunami of tomorrow his fury would beget. If he was to be the earthquake and the tidal wave that would overtake her heart's desires, then so be it; for hers was a higher calling to call him back from wanton disregard and a wayward trident he wielded as a weapon. And would he choose again not to hear, she would sing to the waters all the same a lullaby and bear witness to the mystery.
As worlds collided, for one brief moment he caught a glimmer in his eye. Could it be real or just a fleeting memory of Attica and their dolphin days? What would quell the storm in him she did not know. What she knew was what might be caught up in the whirlwind and still she flew fast through his fury, daring to dive deep, trusting she would survive again, after Poseidon.
Twenty years hence, somewhere off the coast of Donegal, along the Wild Atlantic Way and ever in her steadfast heart, the storm raged on. Like horses sprung from the seas below, the skies cracked open with a stampede that summoned a thousand angels springing forth. Blinded by the falsehoods he was fed in this age or the one before or perhaps the one yet to come, he flung down the gauntlet of silence that echoed still from the heart of the wild Irish sea.
