SILENCE IS GOLDEN:
County Offaly Ireland Painting
Eyes aflame, the big-horned sheep stares with an intensity, her entire being lit with a startling truth. In the background a form whose shape mirrors the body of water on the right walks away from the purple round tower. This painting is by an experience at Clonmacnoise, the early Christian monastery situated on the shores of the River Shannon.
In nearby cemetery ruins, the high kings of Tara and Connacht are sleeping. The memory of Saint Ciarin fills the land. The sound of ringing bells and seabirds echo. Could it be this sheep saw it too—the “ship in the sky” recorded in the Annals of Ulster in the year 749? With gentleness and strength, the sheep looks on with a silence that is golden.
She will hold her secrets that you might decide what is held in eternity and reflected in her eyes.
What does your soul remember?
What story of life is alive in you?
In the heart of the Emerald Isle, I was met with mystery and miracle. The soul of Ireland spoke to my soul, and I was forever changed.
I'll meet you on the way!
