THIS MEMORY ALIVE IN ME
Glencar Lough Painting • County Leitrim, Ireland Painting
Inspired by the legendary events at Glenade Lake in Ireland, this painting brings together ancient legend and my connection to the formation rising from the mountains above, which I call "Mother on the Mountain."
Here, she comes as if from another world, bearing witness to the gruesome scene. The monster, called the Dobhar-chu by the Irish, seems to have become one with the bloated, floating body of its victim. On the nearby shore, her bereft husband looks on along with stands of trees along the shore. In the background, the Irish skies open to the reign of stormy spirits.
This is the memory alive in me.
What is your essential story of life?
What is alive in you?
This Memory Alive in Me is an original Soul of Place painting from the County Leitrim and Soul of Ireland collections by Virginia artist Dawn Richerson, who found joy and wonder in the heart of the Emerald Isle where she lived for three years. In Ireland, I was met with mystery and miracle. The soul of Ireland spoke to my soul, and I was forever changed.
I'll meet you on the way!
