SILENCE IS GOLDEN
Clonmacnoise Painting • County Offaly, Ireland Painting
In nearby cemetery ruins, the high kings of Tara and Connacht are sleeping. The memory of Saint Ciarin fills the land and the sound of ringing bells and seabirds echo.
Could it be this sheep saw it too—the “ship in the sky” recorded in the Annals of Ulster as having occurred in 749? Portraying a mix of gentleness and strength, the colorful big-horned sheep looks on with a silence that is golden.
What is your essential story of life?
What is alive in you?
Silence Is Golden is an original Soul of Place painting from the County Offaly and Soul of Ireland collections by Virginia artist Dawn Richerson, who found joy and wonder in the heart of the Emerald Isle where she lived for three years. In Ireland, I was met with mystery and miracle. The soul of Ireland spoke to my soul, and I was forever changed.
I'll meet you on the way!
